What CC Theme is for

Advanced visual skins, with the safety details beside the preview.

Market research showed that basic colors and fonts are already becoming native and interchangeable. CC Theme focuses on the harder layer: local media, truthful previews, compatibility evidence and recovery.

Native-first

Use built-in Codex appearance controls for colors and fonts. Add a local adapter only for visual effects the native theme system does not cover.

Four background modes

Preview a static image, an optional MP4 loop, a finite water ripple or an 8/16/32-frame directional WebP atlas.

Private by default

Selected artwork and anonymous drafts remain in this browser. The current site has no account or server-side theme upload.

Version-aware recovery

Every package names its target and assets. Unknown client builds fail closed, and the adapter keeps a route back to native appearance.

One field, one active mode

Media, ripple and directional backgrounds stay mutually exclusive.

The live preview and both macOS adapters use the same interactiveBackground contract. Reduced Motion stops ripple animation and returns a directional atlas to its configured idle frame.

    Choose Codex or WorkBuddy, then add your own image, MP4, ripple image or static directional atlas. No CSS editing is required.

    Check real surfaces

    Review task, code, terminal, diff, settings and motion-reduced states instead of judging a wallpaper in isolation.

    Export and verify

    Download an inspectable .cctheme archive, then let the target macOS adapter validate its manifest, integrity hashes and exact client version.

What is CC Theme, and is it an official OpenAI product?

CC Theme is an independent third-party browser Studio plus local macOS adapters for Codex and WorkBuddy visual skins. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by OpenAI.

Can I add an image, video or animated background to Codex without editing app.asar?

Yes on an exact verified macOS target. The adapter uses a local loopback connection and does not modify app.asar or the signed application bundle. Image, MP4, finite ripple and directional-atlas modes are supported within the published compatibility boundary.

Does CC Theme upload my background image or video?

No. The current browser Studio keeps selected media and anonymous drafts on the device. A downloaded .cctheme archive contains only declared theme data and allowlisted local assets.

What happens when a Codex or WorkBuddy update breaks a theme?

Stop the advanced adapter, return to the native appearance and record the exact client build. An unknown build must remain pending until its surfaces, fallback and recovery path are verified.

How does the directional background work?

You provide one static WebP atlas containing 8, 16 or 32 evenly divided frames. The preview selects a frame from pointer direction; CC Theme does not auto-generate the directional artwork.

Can I reopen and inspect a .cctheme theme?

Yes. Import it back into Studio to inspect and edit the declarative theme. The package manifest lists its files and SHA-256 integrity records, and executable theme code or remote URLs are rejected.
