Background readability

How to keep Codex readable over a custom background

A practical checklist for tuning artwork, scrim, saturation and motion without pretending CC Theme controls the client UI.

Updated

Test the final composed workspace

A wallpaper that looks calm on its own can compete with sidebars, code, dialogs and the composer once it sits behind the real interface. Review both sparse and dense preview scenes before exporting.

  • Keep the focal point away from reading areas
  • Check menus, dialogs, code and the composer
  • Verify both light and dark native appearance when supported

Tune the background layer, not the client UI

Use the controls the current target actually applies: media position, scrim, background saturation, blur where allowlisted and a static Reduced Motion fallback. CC Theme does not recolor messages, code, icons or status states.

Prefer a calmer fallback for long sessions

If motion or transparency still distracts from work, use a static image or native appearance. Reduced Motion must never leave an interactive effect continuously rendering.

Frequently asked questions

Can CC Theme change Codex text colors to match my wallpaper?

No. Native client colors remain client-owned. Adjust the background layer or return to the native appearance instead.

Should I use video behind code?

Use it sparingly. Motion can reduce focus, battery life and stable contrast; keep a static fallback and respect Reduced Motion.
