About CC Theme: a native-first, version-aware Codex theme project
Learn why CC Theme focuses on advanced local backgrounds, exact-build evidence, inspectable packages and recovery instead of replacing native Codex appearance controls.

Why this project exists
Market research showed that basic color and font changes are increasingly served by native appearance controls. The harder unsolved requests are local image or video backgrounds, readable transparency, update breakage, safe sharing, version checks and one-step recovery.
- Do not compete with native settings where they are sufficient
- Make advanced media controls visible and inspectable
- Publish limitations beside features
How claims are verified
A capability is marked verified only after the exact client build is exercised on its real platform. Representative surfaces, fallback behavior, package import/export, Reduced Motion and restore behavior are checked together. A new client build begins as pending.
- Verified: tested against the named target and date
- Pending: known or planned but not yet validated
- Unsupported: no compatible public workflow is provided
What CC Theme is not
CC Theme is not an official OpenAI service, a replacement desktop client, a marketplace for executable modifications or evidence that every future build will remain compatible. Research observations guide priorities but are not presented as traffic, market-size or adoption claims.
- No redistribution of Codex or WorkBuddy
- No arbitrary theme code
- No fabricated search-volume or user-count claims
About the project
Who maintains CC Theme?
CC Theme is maintained as an independent open-source project. Source, contracts and releases are linked through the public GitHub repository.
Why not build another color theme marketplace?
Native client controls already cover many ordinary appearance needs. CC Theme focuses on advanced local media, compatibility evidence, package inspection and recovery.
What does verified mean?
It means the named capability was checked on the exact platform and client build recorded in the compatibility data; it is not a permanent promise for later builds.
Is the project affiliated with OpenAI?
No. CC Theme is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by OpenAI.
