Local image backgrounds
A safer way to design an image background for Codex on Mac
Design and preview a Codex image background locally without uploading artwork, embedding remote resources or patching the application bundle.

Prepare artwork for a working interface
A beautiful wallpaper can become unreadable when panels, code blocks and status labels sit above it. Use a restrained focal point and preserve quiet regions for text.
- Use PNG, JPEG or WebP under the editor's stated limit
- Test both dense and empty screens
- Avoid placing high-contrast detail behind the composer and code output
Keep media local and inspectable
Local processing reduces unnecessary exposure of private or licensed artwork. A safe package should contain declared files with integrity hashes, not remote URLs or executable scripts.
Treat performance and contrast as release checks
Blur, transparency and video can increase power use and reduce text contrast. Offer a static or reduced-effects fallback and verify ordinary text at 4.5:1 contrast where practical.
Frequently asked questions
Does CC Theme upload my background image?
No. In the current version, selected media and drafts remain in the browser on your device.
How can I apply an exported advanced skin?
Use the separate mac-codex-skin adapter only when the installed macOS Codex build exactly matches the verified compatibility record. Unknown builds and Windows are not supported.
