A known package remains reproducible, but a changed host build is a new compatibility event. Restore first, then revalidate the exact combination.

Stop and return to the native appearance

Treat unexpected layout, blank surfaces or unreadable text as a reason to fail closed.

  • Restart ChatGPT Desktop
  • Confirm native chat and Codex mode open normally

Capture the new compatibility evidence

  • Theme slug and package version

  • Screenshot and reproduction steps

Reapply only after verification

Compare the new compatibility record, import the original versioned package again and verify message, code, sidebar and composer surfaces before normal use.

Does a newer client build inherit the previous result?

No. A client update can change the surfaces the Adapter expects.

Should I download a different copy of the same theme?

Use the original versioned package and verify its checksum. The new variable is usually the host build, not the package identity.

Does restore affect conversations?

The supported restore path removes CC Theme appearance and connection state; it is not a host-data recovery tool.
