Codex for Mac · immersive backgrounds

Make Codex on Mac feel more like your workspace

Create an immersive Codex workspace with local image, MP4, water-ripple or directional backgrounds, then export for a precise Mac build.

Supported visual layer

Choose one media, ripple or directional render mode. Native Codex colors, fonts, spacing, icons, panels and product features remain under the client's control.

  • Local PNG, JPEG or WebP
  • Optional MP4 up to 256 MiB
  • Finite water ripple
  • Static directional WebP with 8, 16 or 32 frames

Version and package boundary

The planned cc-theme-v0.1.0 asset names Codex 26.715.31925 (5551) and is not published yet. After publication, require current verified surface evidence and verify the release checksum; never treat a newer number as automatically compatible.

  • Package target is authoritative
  • Manifest lists every file and SHA-256
  • Unknown builds fail closed
  • Installer and theme archive remain separate

Safe application and recovery

The adapter uses a local loopback CDP connection and does not modify app.asar or the signed bundle. CDP remains a powerful local interface, so use it only with the documented target and stop it when finished.

  • Keep untrusted local software away while the endpoint is active
  • Check the compatibility matrix after every Codex update
  • Restore native appearance when any target detail is uncertain

Codex theme questions

Can I set a custom Codex desktop background?

Yes on an exact verified macOS build. Select local media in Studio, export a Codex-targeted package and use the matching adapter.

Can I install the WorkBuddy package in Codex?

No. The package target and compiled directory differ, and import or application should reject the mismatch.

Does CC Theme replace Codex UI controls?

No. It changes the allowlisted visual background layer and leaves product controls and behavior native.

What happens when Reduced Motion is enabled?

Ripple becomes static and directional returns to its configured idle frame; static media remains available.
